Can I do this on my 10AE? Electrical ground Q

I am rewiring and can't get the ground from the battery to the engine housing off. Been trying to get it off at the engine housing for weeks, but it aint happening.

Can I leave it connected and run a new ground from the starter bolt to the battery? The original ground would still be connected at the engine housing and at the lower fender well where its bolted, but I would disconnect from the battery and wrap it up. Can I do this w/o shorting anything out????

Here's a retarded picture of what I am trying to describe. The black/green is the wire I cant get off the rear of the engine and was wondering if I could leave it in place (but not connected at battery).

Yikes....... I was hoping I'd wake up and find the answer. Right now I'm just staring at the car.

Well you don't really need to wrap up the wire if you disconnect it...just snip it as close to the bolt as possible...then you shouldn't have to worry about anything IMO.

I was thinking about snipping it as well, but thought I'd have the option to go back 100% original if i didnt snip it. Guess it really doesn't matter though to be original for the wiring for the next owner. Thanks for posting!

Well, mission complete!! I rewired it with marine grade cables and it starts right up w/o sounding weak like the original cables did. Huge improvement.

Mission failure though on my injector replacement. I see a puddle on top the engine. Bummer, I hate removing all that stuff again.

Did you try spraying it with pb blaster? to get it off. I'm just saying it has to come off sooner or later.

PB, Marvel and Liquid Wrench. All tried but failed. I'll worry about the bolt later like when I need a new clutch or rebuild. Access is limited.

take care of the fuel leak asap, i put injectors back in once and didnt notice a leak. I drove the car foe 15 minutes until i was on the side of the road with my engine on fire. It was a good thing I had the foresight to keep a fire extinguisher in the car.
