I saw a thread on rim/tire size a while back but a search brought up nothing.
I'm looking at a set of RB springs for a 1" drop and I would like to find some rims to help fill out the wheel wells and to put a bit of rubber down (225fr and 245rear). However I cant figure out what size/offset I need.
As much as I would love to go get a set of $2k rims its just not in the books. any semi-cheap suggestions would be appreciated as well.

As for the other question, all stock FC wheels are +40 offset. You can use the data you have to figure out what offset will work using this handy calculator: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
And here's the thread you're looking for (I think): https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-20/official-fc-wheel-fitment-thread-257700/
Don't buy the RB springs unless you are really picky about ride comfort ( like some other poeple that lower their cars then complain) get the tanabe GF210 best drop (2 inch drop F/R) to ensure proper fitment also if you are on a budget you can always find some wheels you like then add spacers this is the pooor mans flush but it works too.
+1 on the Mustang wheels.

These are 17 x 8 +30 all around with 235/45 tires.
Perfect in the front, slightly sunken out back.
Might look for some 9"'s for the rear and put 255/40 tires on 'em, just to fill it out a bit more.

Clokker, any idea if those rims would fit with a 2" drop?
Theres a wheel repair company out here that can cut and reweld up to a 2" extension in a rim. sadly they can only do it on the back side .may have to get some mustang rims and have em hacked up and add spacers.

FD Wheels are readily available and can easily accomidate 225/245 ...thats what I'm running.
And RB springs don't yeild a very attractive drop, like Chriz said, if you are really concerned about ride quality (read: softness) go right ahead, but if you want to get rid of some of that fender gap, look elsewhere.
Honestly you're only going to get so far w/ springs anyway, especially in the front. You might want to consider a used set of ground controls. Although I will admit, you're not going to be able to get the front of the FC very low w/o coilovers (unless u look into that RB strut top lowering kit).
