Can I buy these anywhere? (4 piston caliper mounting ear shims?)
My car has been apart for a long time and these have gone missing from one of my front calipers. They're the thin aluminum(?) shims that clip on to the mounting ears of the 4 piston front calipers and get sandwiched between the knuckle and the caliper. I've looked on Mazdatrix and Atkins Rotary and haven't found them, I also searched the major auto parts store websites for brake hardware kits and none of them contain these parts.
I honestly didn't use mine, I was upgrading from the single piston and there was only 1 shim included with the calipers I bought used.
I don't think they matter, but I did use some anti-seize to make sure the aluminum caliper doesn't seize to the spindle.

i don't see a separate part number, i have a feeling there are there to keep the iron spindle and aluminum caliper from corroding, there are a few things like that on the car, and i'm not sure its really an issue.

Hmm, thanks. I do tend to put anti-seize on everything anyway. The slight change in caliper position won't be an issue? (I measured the shims I have and found them to be 0.5mm or 0.02")
Those clips are a mystery. I still have all mine. They're not listed in the Mazda parts catalog. Years ago, when Ray Crowe was still at Malloy Mazda, I remember asking him about them and he couldn't find any listing either. Mazda lists a similar shim for the FD as washer p/n FD01-26-137, but they are NLA. What purpose do they serve? That's the $64 question. I suspect that their purpose is to either reduce heat transfer to the hub or possibly to reduce galvanic corrosion between two dissimilar metals or to reduce braking noise from vibration. But, that's just my guess.
