a sticking caliper would cause that as would an improperly lubed slide pin or missing or faulty pad hardware. i have had excellent luck with quality and price from napa. any parts store can order them or you can go to mazdatrix and get reman calipers.

Another cause, very often overlooked is restricted brake hoses to the calipers. That old of a car will sometimes have hoses that flake off internally causing slow release of the caliper.

thats very true. adding to that, the hoses will also collapse internally and cut fluid flow off completely to the caliper!

Is the car pulling to one side or the other under braking, it could just be the pads, one may have a poor production quality.

Scored rotors can cause uneven wear as the coating created by the pads can't do its job properly on an uneven surface.

I am assuming these are front calipers.....?

Remove the caliper and clean up the slide pins. Use some good brake grease on them when you reassemble. Calipers should slide freely on those pins, otherwise the caliper can't release after braking. If the caliper is only sliding on one of the two pins, then you could see uneven wear on your pads.
