Can I beat these cars?......

Well, 2 people I know just bought new cars recently. One got a 89 rx-7 GXL, the other got a 1985 300ZX N/A. They are both completely stock. We were talking about getting a little race together, and I just wonered what you guys think the outcome will be. We are probably gonna put like 50 bucks on it or something, just to make it interesting. Im pretty sure I can take the Z, just didnt know about the rex. I've never ridden in a S5 N/A, so I dont know how much faster they are than mine. Just wondered what you guys think. Car and mods in sig.

you are slightly modded, If you all drive equally I'd bet on you. That Z is one of the lightest ones, less than 3000lbs if I remember right. Just remember, 1/4 tank of gas and remove all the crap from your car... spare ect...

You'll win for sure, unless u can't drive. U will kill that Z no problem, they are slow as hell. U probably have as much power as the s5 and less weight so i'd bet on u too. As mention have ur tank near empty.

All of those cars are under 3000, and I think the 86 is lighter.
You should win no problem.

I honestly don't know the weight of the z, I was going with the info from the above person.
The two rexes are under 3000 though.

Curb weight over 3500#!&nbsp That's still at least 300# more than the curb weight rating of the FC...

You will beat the z... even an older turbo z is slow.. the N/A is pitiful.
I don't know about the 89 though... A lot of people say that they are the same speed, I intensly disagree... I have had both, and driven lots of each (other peoples)... and the s5 feels a hell of a lot faster each time...
The s5 GXL isn't much heavier than the s4 GXL at all...plus a chunk more power...
If the s5 is in perfect running condition, I'd say you and the s5 are dead even, maybe the s5 is even a little faster....
The top end of s5's are a lot better... but a tad slower down low....

Odds are, if it's bone stock, the cat is a little clogged, etc.... you may beat it... but I'd play around with him a bit first to see, before putting money on it.. let us know!!!!
