Possible...
If the person driving the C5 doesnt know what they are doing.
Driver ability is always a big part of the equation

Ask your friend if the C5 acutally new they were racing. Chances are the guys in the C5 was just normally driving along and kinda looked over and chuckled at your buddy.

tII's may be slower in the 1/4 mile than new muscle cars but we've got one thing which most of them will never have...

We do have a wider powerband and a much lighter car with better aerodynamics. And the same power strokes per revolution of the flywheel as that potent LS1 V8. We can also rev quicker.

Granted the C5 is one hell of a machine stock, this is the classic go-kart against a semi arguement. The semi has 500hp and 1200lb/ft of torque, but the go-kart only weighs 300lbs with driver and can wind out its gears higher. Unless they changed a lot since the last time I looked at them (C4) the vette has always been a tubby car needing the big motor to keep it from being a slug.

In this instance I would bet that vette was an auto.

I personally want to line up against one just to see what would happen. Not saying I'd win or even hold with him, but I'd like to see how well I could keep up.
