Can a 88 Non Turbo AFM be used on a 88 Turbo???

Ok, just going to pick my car up from the shop and they just did a motor R and R, however they said my AFM was bad, was causing idle problems, they basicly said the way it was mounted messed the spring up becasue it was sideways(the AFM is just a flapper door and spring). The mechanic had a extra AFM off a non turbo car he installed(no cost to me) and said the car idles and runs great now. I also have a SAFC installed. Can I drive my car with the Non turbo AFM on my turbo car?? any ideas off the differences??
any help would be great

i believe it works...i had one on mine for about a year before i dropped in an s5 engine in my 87 t2.
some would disagree with me, but if you take a look at the fsm the two are exact in just about everything...well, except the part numbers...
just my $.02 worth...
(side note: right now...i have a wired up s5 n/a afm on my '87 t2 harness and that seems to work just fine)
