Cam Sensor?

I had another guy come out and look at the 7 today. I have replaced the coils, plugs, wires and ECU now. He said it is not getting spark so I should try to find a Cam sensor to see if that's the problem. If not then I guess I have blown a seal? Does that sound right to anyone?

You need to find out if the ECU is getting power from the Main Relay. Use a digital meter and see if there is batt voltage on the small ECU plug. On the wire of that plug that is colored black with white stripe and is located on the far left/bottom of that plug.

To get spark, you need the Main Relay to pull in when you put the key to Start. So if you don't have a meter, here's what you do. Unplug the smaller of the two plugs on the Main Relay. It has but two wires. Now turn the key to ON. Go back to the Main Relay and reinstall that small two wire plug on the Main relay. The relay should make a Click when you put the plug on. That means the thing pulled in.

So if that's good, then go look at both EGI fuses and make sure they are good. You might do this prior to doing the Main Relay thing above.

IF the Main Relay did not click when you did the first thing mentioned above, then the ENGINE fuse is probably bad. It's in the interoir fuse box. See the FAQ thread on the beginnning of this forum for where the fuses are.

The CAM sensor was a mispeak thing. He meant CAS sensor. They do not go bad unless you've been screwing with it while its been turning. Forget that idea. Just make sure its plug is on.

In the attached jpg of the small ECU plug, all those items with a red dot should have batt power. All but one is fed from the EGI fuses via the Main Relay. One is fed by the BTN fuse via the room fuse. That last one isn't needed for driving the car.

So it seems to me it's a blown EGI or engine fuse. Or all the fuses might be good and power is at the ECU and the car is just severly flooded or blown. Who knows?

Don't be a parts swapper. It cost too much for so little gain.
