Question CAI, too much of a good thing?

I have been thinking of this lately...

If there is too much air being forced into the cold air intake could this upset the MAF sensor and the computer's ability to adjust?

I was thinking of ducts from a front lip feeding into the cold air box?

Thanks

BTW any picture of this set up would be great.

you cant put too much air into the engine unless you hold the flapper door in the AFM open with a tool or your hand..... the reason an intake is better is because WHEN the flapper door opens there is less restriction on i incoming air... i wouldnt worry about the car getting too much air unless you are using forced induction

Air is not forced into the AFM; it's sucked in by the engine. The AFM simply measures however much air the engine is taking. Even a true ram-air set-up is only overcoming a small amount of the restriction the intake system poses. The engine is still doing nearly all the work moving the air.

The worst that can happen is that the AFM's flap reaches full travel and can't measure further increases in airflow. A lean condition will then result. You need a fairly modified engine to do this though.

Hmmm, the reason for asking was to help decide on a lip that has holes under the fog lamps or one that does not.

I figured that when I get around to making a cold air box I could use the holes and some ducting to fill the CAI.

What do you guys think? Jason?
