Cabin air filter

Where is the cabin air filter located on a 1990 GTU? I can't find anything through Search about cabin filters or anything in my Haynes manual. I get chunks of trees, seeds, leaves and more fun stuff in my face when I turn on the fan after parking under a tree and it's plenty annoying.

The fan unit is behind the passenger side of the dash. If you remove the glovebox, you'll have a good view of it. It seems like it might be a pain to remove it though.

Alright, next time I'm at my parents' I'll see how difficult it is to get out and look at...I live in an apartment building now and we're not allowed to work on cars in the parking lot.

^ It is pretty easy to remove only 3 10mm nuts and the coupling to the ac evaporator but there is no blower air-filter.

there is no cabin air filter, the debris you are getting just means its time to clean that crap out of there. It gets in the base of the windshield. Remove wipers, remove cowl trim and vacuum it out.

Alright, thanks. That sounds like less of a headache than trying to figure out how to disassemble the blower.

The blower is easy to get out. I would clean that out as well as under the cowl.
