a.c. removal

a.c. removal

I'm sure im mising it, but I was lookin for a writeup on a.c. removal and couldnt find anything in the archive or the 2nd gen. forum..anyone know if there is one....

side question, is there a way to disable the power steering temporarily to see if i can stand driving it with no p.s. (a fuse?),

related question....if i remove the a.c. but want to keep the p.s., can I still remove the BAC or will i have idle problems keeping the p.s.

and as always sorry if im way in left field on this

you can just take off the power steering belt but its going to be alot harder to steer then if you have a manual steering rack. my 2 cent

Underneath the dash is the power steering unit. It is gray box with a rectangle shaped connector connecting to it. Just disconnect the connector and you won't have power steering anymore.

^That is how to properly disable power steering and keep the P/S rack.

A/C is pretty much just taking the stuff out. You can either just remove the basicly or tear everything even remotely related to A/C out.

Honestly I vote that you disable P/S or put in a manual rack. It will clean the engine compartment up A LOT. Plus it is a lot of weight removal. Having no P/S is not really that big of a deal. You might have problems dry steering your tires to death. No big deal.

if you remove the power steering it isnt totally necessary to install a manual rack. just leave some fluid in the steering rack and plug up the holes with the correct threaded bolts. it really isnt that hard w/o power steering or a manual rack, you get used to it real quick.

Don't remove the BAC unless you want idle problems. There is no reason to remove it anyways!

I took out my AC and ended up blocking off my BAC too. I've had no idle problems what so ever.
