I can't use my A/C. I press the button on the logicon, and the engine dies. Does anyone know what the hell is going on?????

I would suggest that you first eliminate the obvious. Have someone in the car press the button while you are watching the A/C pulley. If the entire pulley suddenly stops, stalling the engine, your compressor has seized. You will need to replace it and flush out and recharge the system. If not, look for an electrical short on the clutch wire.

Is your engine only stalling when idling with the AC on? If its just an idle problem with AC on than its probably just your BAC..you can try cleaning on the contact points on the electrical connectors...or you can take a DMM or Ohm meter and measure the resistance across the contact points..Its should be no higher than 12ohms I believe..check your haynes or mazda service manual to be sure.

Ok, first of the BAC is your Bypass Air Control Valve..basically it is supposed to allow your car to idle when you turn on your lights, AC or anything that draws power from your car. If you pop your hood, it is going to be on the passenger side of your engine. It is right above the ACV(Air Control Valve) It is a horizontally shaped cylinder looking thing about 4 inches long. Maybe somebody has a pic they could post? You should see an electrical connector going into it. It is pretty high up, it should be plainly visible if you are look at the engine from the passenger side fender You should DEFINENTLY get a haynes manual at the very least. They cost about $12.00 and are invaluable for working on our cars(not as good as the mazda service manual, but those are over $100 so most of us don't have those). Good luck.

Oh yeah...on 86-88 models(like in that picture) the BAC is on the driver said..on 89-91 models it is on the passenger side. So if you have an 89-91 it will be a little harder to find, but at least now you know what it looks like.
