Thermowax ?

How do you check your thermowax apparatus to determine if it is extending properly? If it is bad is it worth getting a used one or just better to get a new one? Where can I get a new one? Sorry about all of the questions. Thanks in advance.

I had my throttle body off and got curious about that one day. Took a propane torch and played the heat on the body of the thermowax (no not the flame just the heat. Judgemental thing here). You'll see the rod end extend. Measure it prior to heating it and then after. I'm not sure but I think it extended .100. Could have been more. I considered it good in that it extended and retracted when cooled down. Probably could have done the same thing using boiling water.EDIT.....I just realized that you might have been talking about the one in the eccentric shaft possibly. That one I put in a pot of boiling water to watch it expand and retract.

Thanks Hailers,
I'm debating whether or not to keep futzing with it, or just do the throttle bod mod and get rid of all of that extra junk. What do you think?
