I'm thinking about talking off my a/c on my s4 vert. Has anybody done this, and did you actually feel a difference in power. The power steer pump too, is it actually worth taking it off?

Lets talk about the PS pump. RX7's were built to do more than go fast (obviously not to be quick tho LoL). They were also built to have amazing handling, etc. If you haven't noticed, the wheel turns effortlessly and the steering (should be) is very tight on them too. You gain very little performance from losing the PS pump, and it makes it QUITE FUN to turn. I had to tow an rx once and we used a tow rope and the WHOLE WAY HOME THROUGH ROUNDABOUTS, ETC I WAS LIKE HEAVE HEAVE HEAVE TURN!!!! No PS is a PITA.
AC, its about 95 outside right now and i cruise in a black rx7 with tinted windows and no AC. Windows down, sunroof up. AC isn't necessary and it is a noticeable gain (and about 50 lbs of weight if you take it all off, especially the coils).
Hows that for an unnecessarily long answer?

I wasn't going to take off my ps pump, but I live in florida, 2 minutes from the beach, and own a comvertible. Now, would I releive any stress from my engine by talking my hardly working ac out?

You are not going to feel any gains by removing the A/C and powersteering. The A/C only robs power when you have it on and the clutch on the compressor is engaged, so if you want to go fast, turn the A/C off. That being said, I still have removed mine, for 2 reasons. More engine bay room, and a little bit of weight reduction. ( Almost 50lbs for both complete systems). The steering effort with out PS and with the PS rack really isnt all that bad. Yes, at ~5mph or so in parking lots, you will feel it, but any higher and it is fine. The S4 and S5 turbo PS systems are speed sensitive anyways, so they give less and less assistance the faster you go.

If the AC works, why not keep it? 50 lbs is a decent amount of weight, but... man, a working AC is nice. And if you've ever taken the belt off, with the clutch disengaged and spun it there is *no* drag from the compressor. I leave it off most of the time, and I can really feel when it's on, but for long highway trips and such, it's really nice.

For 7 seconds.

It also makes a big difference in resale value.

you are right, a/c is good. I'll get my ac friend to charge it for free. It will come in handy when I'm done with the hard top .
