a/c evaporator question.

Ok, well when i get the car running, i plan on reinstalling the a/c. the a/c compressor was pulled off for more room to work with and the lines have been open to the air for a month. maybe a little over a month. Someone that I really trust there opinion, said that when i vaccum the system down, to let it run for like 8 hours or so because of the moisture. Then, someone else told me that im going to need to get a whole new evaporater. What do you guys think, should I just vaccum the system for about 8 hours or what?

the most you need to do is replace the reciever/dyer (has a icadsecant bag inside it, located in the front between the bumper and the raditor) that holds the mositure in the system, fill your compressor with oil and pump it in your hand (easy to turn) to make sure that is lubricated, then install everything then vacuum the system for at least 20 min, time only depends on what the systems has been exposed to i.e. outside when it rained, if inside like a dry shop/ garage maybe an hour at most, if you have a set of a/c gauges hook them up to see if the system holds the vaccuum if not then you have a leak, when charging just make sure to short the lowside pressure switch so the compressor will run at all time to suck the freon in. hope that helps.

Pretty much hit it right on the head. Personaly, I'd also flush out the evaporater with brake parts cleaner before re-assembling.
