A/C drier - can't find right part

I'm looking to replace the A/C drier on my 88 RX7 vert and nothing fits. Every time I order a drier, the holes on the drier are too small for line to fit into it. The drier has #6 fittings and I need #8 fittings. Can anyone give me a link to where I can purchase a new drier that will fit?

I got one with the right size lines for my system, but it did not bolt on like original. I got 2 before I ended up with the I settled on.

I can give you the part number if you think it will help you

by bolt on I mean it did not bolt to the car itself the same, but that did not bother me because its under a radiator panel not the stock plastics

When I replaced mine I think I got an s4 one from Napa, they had it listed in their catalog wrong and it was a direct fit for my s5. So maybe the one they have for s5 would work for s4. That was several years ago but I may be able to find the receipt in my folder of rex receipts.

If you can get the part #, that would help! I've been through 2 driers already. 3rd times a charm (i hope). I got lucky with the expansion valve. The second one worked out.

Any little bit of info helps! Thanks.

I don't have a stock compressor in the car, so how would I find out if it's a Sanden or Denso system?

there should be a label on the compressor. or look at the lines going into the compressor. if the two lines going into the compressor are separate then it's a denso. if the two lines are joined by a flange then it's a sanden.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a stock compressor, and the lines from the compressor to the mazda lines had to be fabricated. So I can't determine by looking there. Is there another way? Everything after the compressor is stock.

Federated/Four Seasons 33623 is what I used, but the mounting bracket was all wrong.

Where did you order it from? Can't seem to find that part # with a search.

Found some four season driers here:

Take your old drier to the parts store with you. Get the oldest parts guy you can find-one who is willing to get out the paper books. He should be able to check the line size and thread pitch. Match the part with one in the book based on the line sizes. Start in the Mazda listings and you will find the correct part.

When I replaced the drier in my 90 vert, I had the same problem you are facing. Autozone, Orielly and Napa all had the same 'wrong part' for my car. The old guy and I found the correct drier. I can't remember which car it came from, but it was either a '80's model Mazda 626 or a 80's model Mazda pickup that fit the lines.

Once we found the line fit, the bracket was also identical to my original part.

Looks like the link you posted has the correct part. I believe that the 'dealer installed' is the key. Ours have that bracket. I would still get it local, just to make a return easy if it doesn't fit.

Turns out that Auto Zone has the correct part for my car. They list the drier according to the VIN#. If the VIN# begins with a "J" then it's part #4170. If it begins with a "1", then it's part #4119.

Mine was 4119 and fits perfectly. The bracket is even the same.

One more thing...
Autozone didn't have it right. My VIN starts with "J", but my part was 4119. So if you get the wrong part, try the other one.
