Let's say they're 2 lines that both start at the compressor. One goes to the condenser which is right next to the radiator. The other runs around the engine bay through the firewall and to the evaporator. I recommend a hacksaw to get the lines out.. after that you have to get in behind the dash to remove the evaporator and as far as the condenser goes... the haynes manual says to remove the radiator but I've heard that some people have gotten it out from up top by removing the hood latch stuff. Also, there's the dryer to the left of the condenser.

well the line that goes beneath the compressor goes beside the radiator up and into the top of it i believe. would it be safe for me to just disconnect all of the lines?

It's safe to disconnect the rest of the a/c lines. Since you removed the compressor, the system is no longer under pressure.. just be careful with what you disconnect; there are oil and coolant lines all around there.

don't know if I'd hacksaw into the lines. What would look better, a blocked off line, or a hack job?

not sure where you would have a blocked off line... it's all removed anyways; the hacksaw just speeds up the process.

Rip that **** OUT. But rip it out with patience and a keen eye for cleanliness. You can pull out the A/C paraphernalia rather easily under the dash too, it's like 4 bolts. Then you can get some little rubber gromets and fill up the holes, and it'll look rather nice!

Keep one thing in mind, while you are savagely hacking and yanking at those lines, there are others including myself that are looking for replacement hoses without getting stiffed by mazda or the local ac shop. With some patience, you can loosen them up and list in the for sale section for people like myself that have a daily driver rex with functional a/c and no concern for saving 10 precious pounds only to fry on the way home in 5 o'clock heat of summer traffic.
