A/C blower motor

does anybody know of a drop in upgrade for the FC blower motor? I replaced the old one with a new unit, and I am still not happy with the results. I tried sealing off all the ducts behind the dashboard, but the air just doesn't blow out very strong. MPV, 929, Millenia? Anyone, Anyone...?

As an alternative, If anyone knows what the CFM and amperage rating on the stock fan is that would also help.

thanks

Lamar

There is a blower motor resistor on the case of the blower assembly. Maybe toying with a lower resistance would help?

getting a lower resistor in the high switch position will allow the motor to blow harder

By any chance will that cause premature wear on the blower?

If it draws too many amps it will blow the fuse, or melt wires.

it shouldn't blow a fuse but it is possible and it could melt wires but that depends on how much lower of a resistor you go. and the motor will wear faster

Could always go nuts and rewire the motor to a relay rigged to come on when its switched all the way to high and make it direct 12v to the battery. Might be more complicated then its worth though. It would be easy if you wanted to lose the low functions but that is probably not what you want.

Edit: I just thought though it could be easy if you could find an adjustable relay that is like a 3 way (I think that would be what its called) So that when its below so many volts its using the normal blower motor circuit but when you switch it to high the relay switches to the other side of it and goes to a direct 12v. I know I have actually done this at 1 point or another on an RC car. It was setup to use a 9v battery when you hit full throttle. It was a 5v relay w/ a potentiometer connected to the source so that you could adjust it to trigger at 6v's instead.

I think ultimately I would rather find an alternative motor, than rig up the current motor if at all possible.

there is a possibility that your evaporator is clogged with so much dust that it's affecting the force of the air coming out of the vents.

in the high speed mode the blower is not run through a resistor. the resistors are only used to achieve lower fan speeds. the blower will not blow any faster in high speed than what it's designed. the only way to get it to blow faster and harder would be to add more voltage.

Not that, it is a new evaporator. Plus all FC's i have ever been in all tend to blow out pretty weak.

my blows weak too, been wondering about this for years!!!

Anyone have a car that blows well? Maybe we could figure out hoe to retro fit the better motor for the 7.

i am going to look into the blower motors for the MPV and 929. I figure the bigger cars should theoretically have a bigger or stronger motor.
