bypass pellet

is this a totally safe modification?

there must be some purpose to the stock valve reducing pressure..

is there somethings that should be kept in mind after adding the bypass pellet?

(just seems to me like if it was such a good idea, then mazda would have made it stock.. know what i mean? )

comments anyone?

Mazda put the E-shaft thermo pellet in to speed up the warming of the engine. The faster the engine warms, the faster the cats warm, and the lower emissions.

yeah once you do the mod you'll love it. at idle i am getting 60 lbs of oil pressure. and at cruise 2k-3k rpms i get close to 100.

I have SS oil cooler lines. and an upgraded oil cooler.

p.s what is a safe 'limit' on oil pressure. i mean i'm sure too high will be bad right?

Upgraded oil cooler??? yeah... uh the factory cooler is better than 98% of anything you can find for any amount of money.

And 100 PSI on the oil pressure is very high for a S4 NA as you have listed in your profile. It sounds like either you oil pressure regulator has failed or you have a race one in there.

Factory S4 oil pressure regulator is 60 PSI, so if he is getting higher than that either the sender and gauge are messed up, or there is an obstruction in the oil system or he has a race regulator in there.

High oil pressure can result in leaky oil seals and a leaky engine. Generally 80 PSI is the max (and perfectly safe) and is the most that is needed for street and mild racing.

The thermo pellet mod should not change oil pressure except when cold, and then it will have the system run like it does warm.
