Buying a new S4 jdm motor......
Hey guys I am about to buy a full JDM S4 swap and I was wondering how I should go about testing the compression when I get it (while it is out the car of course). Also what kind of numbers should I be looking for. Thanks in advance for any reply's.

With a compression tester and the battery hooked up to the starter. Make sure the throttle is open all the way. I wouldnt accept anything in the low 90s if its one that they claim have 'low miles under 40,000'

And do yourself a favor and ***DONT*** order your motor from tigerjapanese. Pretty much every motor that someone on here has gotten from them, its arrived blown.
Don't sign for it from the freight company until you check compression and make sure it didn't suck in a coolant seal or anything.

Honestly, if you don't mind spending a little extra $$ for the guarantee, PM the forum member Japan2LA. He guarantees his motors not DOA. Pretty much everyone on the forum will give him a for his service.

Yes it is for my car in the signature I lost all compression in my rear rotor and I looked in to rebuilding but what I was aiming for was getting a "hopefully" good jdm motor so that I could part out the good stuff left on my motor to get the money for a bnr turbo.

I got my engine from tigerjapanese, after testing 7 blown motors I finally found the one that's in my car right now. As far as testing them goes, I just showed up with a charged car battery, a pair of jumper cables, a spark plug wrench, and a compression tester. Also, don't take all compression readings from a sitting engine as gospel, my engine tested 60 front and 90 rear and went up to 115 front and rear after a week of running it.
