buying a jdm turbo engine with 26,000 miles..and i have some questions

buying a jdm turbo engine with 26,000 miles..and i have some questions

rite now i have an 89 gtu with 140,000 miles and my mechanic has this engine he told me about for 800$, with a transmission thrown in for free. its a turbo jdm engine taken out of a wrecked car..everything in perfect running condition. i just want to make sure ill be able to drop this engine rite into my car and im wondering what else ill need to get for it....the only thing that i know of that i need is the wire harness. please help....

you'll need the TURBO ECU, TURBO WIRING HARNESS, TURBO AIRFLOW METER, TURBO PRESSURE SENSOR as well out of the wrecked car.

thanks. so if i have all of that...with the engine. it willl be all set to just drop into my gtu?

well, not exactly. if it comes with the transmission you'll need to buy a TURBO clutch as well.

however the stipulation is if you use the transmission, you'll also have to use the TURBO driveshaft, TURBO rearend, and TURBO halfshafts, so it adds up quickly.

you could always use your NON TURBO transmission and everything else (driveshaft, diff, halfshafts, etc) but you'd have to buy a pretty heavy duty NONTURBO clutch. just some food for thought.

it depends on the condition of the engine and transmission.

however 800 bucks for an engine with good compression and a good transmission is a good deal i would say.
