buying and installing body color mouldings
buying and installing body color mouldings
What is the process for removing these suckers and installing brand new body-color ones? I don't want to paint them because that just seems like a huge hassle and if they get dinged, here comes the black paint back again.
Is it a difficult job to do, to remove the mouldings and replace them with body color?
Now that I think of it, can you even install S5 mouldings on an S4?

they come off like ****. They will leave glue behind, and it will have to be removed somehow. If my I decide to do my car black I'll put stock ones back on, but if I do it another color I will just paint them. They aren't all that effective at stopping dings anyways, and don't really get dinged themselves. If you've ever opened a door next to your FC, look at how much higher the door is then the mouldings. 9 times out of 10 their door hits at the top of yours. Anyways, they aren't that hard to get off, just pull them. But they leave a mess behind.
The S4 moldings use the automotive double sided tape, and sometimes another adhesive as-well kind of a pain to remove. Heat is probably the best I can suggest.
The S5 moldings have a strange clip/snap-in mounting device.
Two ways to do it, remove all the clips on the S5 moldings and replace in the manner you would the S4 ones with the proper double sided tape. Or if you have the time, make templets from the moldings as to where the holes in the sheet metal go, drill holes and use a nibbler to make them square to accommodate the clips. The latter is what I did for a set of S4 fenders I put on my S5.

Heat will assist you in cleanly removing the mouldings. A hot day, direct sunlight, a heat gun or blow drier -- all will help you pull off with the minimal sticky mess.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I'd like to get prepainted ones, I'm going to have to look into it and where I can find them also. I have no clue where I can get them from, Victoria British doesn't carry mouldings for S4's or S5's.
