Buying 86 n/a

What's up guys, pretty new to rotory engines, but I feel like I know enough and want to buy one. I'm looking at an 86 n/a with 136,000 on it, and I'm not sure how well the previous owners took care of the engine. If I went to check the compression and it was good, should I still be worried about if there was a lack of perfection in maitenence or not? Everything seems fine, the guy didnt neglect the car or anything, but I know the engines dont like people who dont show some tender loving care.

But do keep in mind that it's an 18-year-old car.
