FL Busted Pressure Plate

Alright I just bought myself an 88' Rx7 SE. I'm going to pick it up in the morning.
The only problem I know of is that the last owner was driving it and he said the pressure plate shattered. We started it up today. Engine runs fine. A little smoke. But other than that the car is fine.
My question is how difficult would it be to change out the clutch on one of these?

it's not hard to change a clutch out..I did a couple and I am "disabled"(busted Back)..I dropped the transmission,Removed and replaced the throw out bearing ,PILOT bearing(please Change this part..you WILL thank me)..and put the new clutch back in,,..no Problem..When removing the Clutch hydraulics,Just Remove the slave from the Transmission, and keep the Line Intact..that way you Don't have to Bleed the System when you have the transmission back in,only Step on the pedal and you are ready..If the Flywheel has no Burns,Scoes,Grooves, etc,,you can get away with Reusing it As Is.Scuff it up with a die grinder/sanding disc,if you want..otherwise look into getting the Flywheel resurfaced..and that involves getting the Flywheel OFF the Engine(2 and 1/8 Socket,a big breaker bar and Muscle!)...it's like a normal clutch install, nothing real major is involved..the Car is pretty well like any other car that you'd work on,Except the internals in the engine are a BIT different!..anyways,I hope the info is Helpful and Good luck, welcome to the Club, and read up as much as you can..it's fun in the long run..Cheers,STYX!~

sweet! thx that does help. and thx for the tip about the pilot bearing too. I had gotten the idea that changing it out was gonna be trouble from reading some of the other threads in here. Any suggestions about what brand of clutch I should buy? I saw a couple say Centerforce Duel Friction if your going to be upgrading it. Oherwise stick to stock.

'88 N/A, stick with the stock clutch, no chatter no problems.
Just an FYI, get a repair manual as it will help, and the exhaust needs to be removed which is a problem on older, well used cars.
