What were you doing when you got pulled over?

What was the fine/penalty?

 

it's major $$ in the states. I think it's like $10,000 + up to a year in jail in californa. maybe others too since it's a fedral crime.

I could be wrong though...

 

that always scares the sh*t out of me. Thats why I want a silencer so that its not so obvious.

 

no cop has ever looked at my car twice and the bumper surround by my tailpipes have alot of carbon on them, i dont think cops care all that much atleast not in texas or arizona

 

Hopefully they are cool in AZ, I am about to find out...

 

We get cat checks everytime we get pulled over. In Puerto Rico that is the first thing Cops check on Rotaries. So we install empty cats so when the cop uses the mirror he sees the cat... It has saved me some serious $$$$$$

 

I told one cop that my presilencer to my N1 was the cat. He bought it

well all my friends drive around in their mustangs with no cats. I just hope that I dont cause people to pass out when they drive behind me. My car passed emissions really good though, Very low scores.

 

just curious. I have the racingBeat full exaust system. Do you guys think if i weld a fake gutted cat around the DP that cops will let me go??just do some mickey mouse cat or something..

I passed a visual State inspection with just the cat heat shielding around a Racing Beat off road pipe. The dude up top even told the pit guy to check the exhaust cause of the noise, (do you know the 18 year old muffler and the stock monifold sound?)

10 years ago a friend of mine moved to Phoenix and couldn't pass the vehicle inspection without convertors(full size chevy truck). I don't know if they did the sniffer test or not.

I live in PA and I have emissions and inspection. It all depends on where in the state you live. I live within 20 miles of a major city and that is probably why I have the laws. A lil township right outside where I live does not have emissions. So it is possible for one side of a street to require emissions and the other side not to.

 

Get yourself a suspension that drops the car REAL good, the cops won't even try to look down there

 

Yeah, the cops in a small town can't even touch their toes let alone get down and than get back up. Watch out for the dicks, I had one think he was cool and tail me for a while yesterday, however, learn how to "disapear" aka drive into a drive way and click off lights, they are retards for this.

 

Its not illegal here (Alberta Canada) to run without cats, they just made it illegal for a shop to remove the cats, or replace with pipe, which the shops go along with, as it makes for good sales of cats.. But if you find a willing shop, its not a problem, or you can make your own exhaust..Alberta is the oil capital of Canada, so they are not about to put major emmisions laws on anything in the forseeable future, however I did get pulled over a while back because of noise from the exhaust, seems 7.2 litres of mopar big block with headers and bottle mufflers is to loud, the cop was ok about it, no ticket or anything just a warning, and a suggestion that my next stop be a muffler shop, even though the truck has full exhaust, I guess he should have heard it when I broke in the motor with open headers for the first 2 weeks...Max

 

 

I had a cop sitting behind me the other day at a red light....luckily we were facing downhill so I didn't have to bring the rpms up much! My car is about as loud as it gets. I have never heard of someone being put on the sniffer here in Duluth, MN though.....

 

Removing your cat is a FEDERAL crime as Scott89t2 posted. If you get pulled over and the cop checks for the cat and you have none, you could be heavily penalized.
Having said that, I know of no one who has been penalized.

 

I got pulled over and the cop looked under my car for about 10 minutes, said he was a GM mechanic for 10 years so i shouldnt BS him, i did anyway of course, said the cat was near the turbocharger, which you cant see. i have nothing that even resembles a cat, he said, he knew i had no cats cause i was running way to rich, funny, no cats make our cars run lean. He acted like a dick for a while and threatend to tow the car, but i kissed his *** and got off with an inspection ticket, which my freind gladly signed off I really dont think theyd put anyone in jail because of an exhaust modification, fines are a maybe, but id just say i bought the car like that, and got it through inspection fine
