burning oil!!!!!

im pretty sure i have this figured out, but if you guys have any other ideas that might save me some money then ill gladly listen. my 86 NA burns oil (when im pulling off from a stop. . . just when im under a non-cruising throttle position). on the interstate it doesnt and when i pulled in to my house today it didnt. . . it usually burns pretty badly at idle. i figured it was a rotor oil seal, but wouldnt it burn all the time? i figured it would just continue to sling more into the chamber and smoke even more. but it doesnt really and im at 3-3.5k rpms on the interstate. could it be something else.? like the oil injectors or something?

it usually smokes like a highschool drunkard at idle and today upon my arrival to home it didnt idle at all at idle.

can somebody help me. . . . preferably save me some money. haha. i dont have the cash for a rebuild right now!!!!!

Perhaps you need to go back to start here.

When you are saying its burning oil, how do you know... it appears as if you are saying it is smoking, but is that the only issue??? or ???

the dipstick doesnt seem to be showing too much oil loss, but it is defiately oil that is burning. . . and smoking. when idling the oil pressure gauge goes to zilch.

okay.. now we have a little more to work with...

Low oil pressure at idle can be a couple of things. The most common is the ecentric shaft valve sticking or failing.

Or on the front cover leaking past the O ring.

But generally neither will show up with smoke in the exhaust. It also sounds like if you are not using oil up at above normal rates (1 quart every 1000 to 2000 miles), that the smoke may not be from oil. However sometimes when the ecentric shaft valve has failed, you are gonna start loosing compression and internal seals.

Whats your oil pressure at 3000 RPM? How about 5000 RPM?
