building that race car, need some advice...
Hey fellas, it has been a long time! I haven't had a running FC in a couple years, and have this beautiful body sitting at my house. As some of you know, I have been out of the loop on all things rotary for over a year, and only working on porsches. I am looking at a possible budget of $5k to put towards a race engine for the FC. I have never done anything of this magnitude on an FC, and it is killing me. So there it is fellas. Help me put together the craziest turbo engine possible with $5K. GO GO GO!

Dude on 5000 dollars you probably will only have about a 300hp as long as you don't have to rebulid it. But don't get me wrong if you have hook ups then you could probably get a nice set up.

$5000 should go pretty far but it will depend on what mods you already have.
For example, to build wild port big turbo engine will be less then $5000 but what about the fuel system, standalone, supporting mods?
What kind of racing and what are your goals? There are probably areas other then the engine that the $5000 will be better spent on.

This is not going to be a drag car. I plan on doing scca road courses with it, and everyonce in awhile take it out and race against my buddies in the pca. I don't need anything on the suspension side of the house, or in caging. I will have around 5K to build a motor that will hold around 20psi off a KKK turbo I have at the shop. I don't need anything in any other area besides the engine. I have the stand alone system covered, and have the fuel delivery in hand. My focus is on the engine. From everyones experience what are the best products out there for building a strong no bs engine. This car will never see the street, so you don't have to worry about that. She is going to be my little trailor queen. I have never had a base model rex, and never been around one without a sunroof. I figure I have a pretty solid foundation to work with.

Standard stuff. Big streetport, three window bearings and hardened stationaries, high compression rotors (throttle response...), eccentric oil jet mods, raised oil pressure, oil baffle...

Aaron, Why are you recommending a big streetport? If it's going to be trailer only, wouldn't it be more benificial to go with a crazy bridgeport (or even PPort?)? I can't see any reason to keep the streetability of a streetported engine, when it'll never be on the street?

not to be a stickler yet again but in a turbo engine raising the oil pressure generally only causes more problems than good.

Plenty of power can be made with a big streetport and it's far easier to tune then a bridge.
As far as the raised oil pressure, he'll be beating on the engine and probably revving it fairly hard...If the turbo is bypassing oil then it's simple to install an oil restrictor.

cool cool. Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the port suggestion too, just forgot to ask. I let you all know how it turns out once I receive my money and the parts come in.
