Building my own exhaust...
Dint quite know where to put this, but I really need a new exhaust. Mine is broken in several places and is quite rusted. However the mufflers were both just replaced before I bought the car.
I will probably do a custom header into a straight pipe into the Y, out to the current mufflers for now.
It looks like I can order all the tubing from RB, and I know how to weld.
My real only 2 questions are:
By droping the resinators and cat, other then emmisions, what problems could I face?
By copying the current exhaust, I should be able to match the mounting points, and make a straight pipe with the cat tube. Can the mounting points be purchased from RB?

Hey man, keep us posted on progress and with pics, I need to do something like this soon aswell for my GXL.
Cant be of much help on your questions though.
Why aren't you going dual? If you're building something from scratch anyways.

I am almost considering using the RB header as a bolt on option and spliting it from there...
Using a non dual exhaust... well because my car does have to pass emissions. But what I am looking at doing is a drop in cat, that while removed has a bolt in straight pipe with the apropriate flange mounted on it for the engine emmisions pipe.
I guess I could, and register my car at the coast where testing is not required...

I just had the cats and other stuff ripped out of my car and piped welded in it's place. (God bless living in nowhere land. No one cares about your pipes ). So i have a strait pipe from the stock manifold to the stock Y and then pipes. Hey it was cheap, $60. Besides emissions your idle might be slightly off. That'd be about it.

I have a race car that is is also street legal. I am racing on a budget so I chose this configuration:
RB header to a single RB presilencer (damn, that thing is too heavy)
RB Y pipe (very affordable and very high quality)
One muffler on the right side
One straight pipe on the left side with a flange on the end. (just barely quiet enough for the race track)
I bolt a cap onto the flange on the street and run through only one muffler.
This allows a sort of straight through exhaust for the track and a slightly loud exhaust for the street. The only penalty is the extra weight of carrying a useless muffler with me on the track. it doesn't seem to hold me back too much.
For inspection I bolt the second muffler in it's proper place and I have had a generic cat welded up to fit in the same place as the RB presilencer with a pipe for stock air injection. Very clean emissions.
