building a fc project need help

Hey guys ive been lurking for a little while now and i have a few questions. Im about to aquire a s5 fc non turbo without a motor. The car will be a track only drift car. No daily driving will be made.

I need the car to make 330-350 wheel hp with good spool and all around power band.

I think an NA application would cost alot more than im willing to spend and the turbo motors are resonably priced.

I see that i can purchase a T2 motor from japan for around 1000-1200 dollars.

I am an experienced mechanic but i have never really done a rotary, i have done my research and i am very familiar with their operation and have been impressed with what they can do.

My real question is what do i need to achieve 330-350 wheel hp for a resonable price? would street or bridge porting be important if i wanted to make good power? is it nessecary? What turbos do you suggest ? I dont have a problem welding manifolds and flanges to make any turbo or downpipe work, so keep this in mind.

Good response and power below 4k is desireable, but top end is important too

I read that the stock turbo has a exhaust A/R of 1.00? That is t4 sized... would a good sized t4 turbo with say a .86 ar comp and 1.08 or so ex be correctly sized?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Jake

What do you expect? You posted a thread at midnight on a Friday night?

You need alot of money. You are taking a motor that is from a TII, and putting it into an N/A FC.

Buy a TII.

See turbo engine swap into in the FAQ. Those links will give you the step by step info necessary to swap the TII drivetrain into the NA car.

After that, a hyrbid turbo (BNR) is the easiest and cheapeast choice. Bolts right to the manifold and will make that power.

Throw on some larger injectors (680CC primary, 720CC secondary), an upgraded fuel pump and a piggyback fuel controller (S-AFC) and you're there.

You'll need a full exhaust as well, and you're into the territory where you'll want a front mounted intercooler though you could get away with the stocker.

Aarron thanks so much for the information. Ill check that FAQ out. I wont be buying a Turbo II because im buying this rolling NA for 100 bucks without a motor. If its unreasonable ill just swap a different motor in there i can get for cheap. I do all my work my self and fabricate it all my self, i am not worried about the price being high because it wont be.

As I said, you'll probably be wanting to swap the TII drivetrain into the NA and that info can be found in the FAQ. If you are in for an adventure, you can turbocharge the NA engine. Information on that is also found in the FAQ.

350hp?
oh man, LS1T56 that FC and never look back.
find a 99 or newer motor/trans dropout for about 3 grand, spend another grand getting it up and running (fuel, cooling, d.shaft, hinson mounts, etc) and then spend a grand on coilovers and youre ready to roll.

or do whatever you want.

Fact is I need the car ready by spring, give or take, and an ls1 in all its glory just costs too much even if i got lucky and picked up and engine for 1500-2000. The t56 trans still costs a grand and thats a cheap price. So im still at 2500-3000 just for the hardware. Itll be 600 more for the conversion, and on top of that i still need the ecu and wiring and whatever else the cheap motor is missing. Full swaps are at anything from 3500-4500 and thats just too much for me to spend.

My hopes are to find a TII motor for under 1000 preferably running if not running hopefully less. Ill probably just run 230-240 wheel stock for a while and then upgrade later. I really dont want more than 4-5k in this project total, and like i said im getting a rolling chassis for 100 bucks so i think its doable. we will see. im sure the odds and ends will kill me.

Now that we will be having events in the area, i need a sled
