Budgeting for my car .. need some ideas on $$$ allocation HELPPPPPPPP lol

Ok as some of oyu know I have a 1988 Vert

Hopefully I will be coming into some money fairly shortly.

Was just wondering what you guys think, if my estimate is far off or if i need to pay attention to something else

My budget right now is about 4000 dollars.

1. Turbo 2 swap (rebuilt engine and install ... 2400?)
2. FMIC, Greddy Profec B Spec 2, Full exhaust (600)
3. New german cloth top (700 bucks)
4. s2000 seats or recover stock ones (400 bucks)

5. Sell engine and tranny (both in excellent shape ... 400 bucks?)

That leave me with 300 bucks left over.

What do you guys think

Or you could take the 4000 dollars you are "coming into" and invest it in something that won't just be flushing it down the toilet. Own a house yet?

If not, don't forget you need to add a T2 rear-end swap to your budget or you will be the one leg wonder of the neighborhood.

#2 seems a bit low, think more like 1000 at least.
200 for full exhaust, and 200 for FMIC is ungodly cheap.
i spent 200 on 1 of my mufflers
and that much on T-bolt clamps and 3 ply silicone couplers.

i have to agree with snowball...
And you may not know what your getting into, i just swaped my vert to T2... i'm in the final stages of finishing the car completely. its been a lot of time and money

I found a s5 T2 for $1100 and it cost $2500 just to have the freakin thing swapped out (mazda dealership) <--- big mistake, too much $$$$ but atleast they did do it right.

cheepest intercooler you'll find worth putting in there wont be under $80
I got a deal on my T-bolts and 3-ply sil. couplers... 20 clamps, and 10 couplers for $100
if you can install it yourself, thats good b/c if not thats another 200-400
you can find some cheep exhausts, i heard the ss auto chrome turbo back is decent and only like 300 somethin $.
personally i chose the RB Turbo back... very high quality and great sound... close to $1k
Its hard to find a used Profec under $200

You wont have to swap out the entire rear end if you dont want to, just go to Mazdatrix.com and look up the custom drive shaft to mate up to the vert rear end. i think i paid like 200 for it or something like that.

dont forget the little stuff like a bigger fuel pump, the n/a wont be good enough to feed the t2 injectors... just other stuff like that

if your gonna do the swap, might as well get the s5 for a few extra ponies.
i dont think you'll find too many junkers with a nice engine though. but you could give it a try, atleast it would come with everything you need. more than likely though, if it looks like crap, it prolly runs like crap.
