Not bad sir, not bad at all. Overall I like the paint job. You do have a few issues with the paint, but it looks like it went on good.

Interior looks nice too. I was wondering how a recovered dash without the thread-look lines around the glove box and top would look.

You can see from the pics that the paint is far from perfect, but I have not color sanded or polished yet. So basically, the paint job is not "done." On the carpet, you can see the poor fit and the crooked wear pads. It looks tolerable compared to what it was before. Hey, it's new carpet. I just expected better stuff for the money I paid.

On the dash, you can see that the vynil shrunk. I will patch the missing parts later. At least it doesn't look bad from the driver's seat.

The tailights, the wipers and the cowl need a new coat of black paint. I will repaint the door handles as well. I will do that all at once at a later day. I am waiting on some suede-like material for my doors. Should be here next week.

There's still alot of work to go, but it is already better than it was before. It doesn't smell like dirt and it is already quieter that before-- even with the door panels off. I am also planning on a new sound-system setup. I want to mount 4 8" subs isobarikally in the rear speaker locations. Since the baskets will be visible, I think I will go with some Audiobahns with flamed baskets.

Yeah, I noticed the problems you mentioned after looking at the pics again. But for someone who painted a car for the first time, it's not bad.

The carpet I noticed too. Is it a molded Carpet set? I have seen the VB catalogs, but they didn't have the color I wanted (grey).

As for the rear tail lights, I have essentially the same problem. I'm thinking of stripping the housings down and repainting them Euro Trim black to match the impact trim molding. Are the clusters painted from the factory?

The tailight clusters? I don't know but they are supposed to be black. The carpet is fitted-- not molded. I should have gone with molded-- I found some on Ebay for less than I paid. I'm P'd about that.

I hope I can salvage more of the paint. I will post pics of the final results, but it will be a while before I tackle that.

It's just that what when the body shop did the paint work, they thought the taillight clusters were cracked. However, on closer inspection, it looks like some sort of clear coating that's peeling badly.

So I thought a satin-like black would make for a nice contrast against the black on my car, like Max's Ford Falcon XB GT "V8 Interceptor" from "Mad Max."

How about a black primer? I shot the car with that first, and it looked solid. If you do a black primer and you decide you don't like it, you get to paint right over it.

This is the ultimate comment ressurection!! Haha. I am really really interested to see how this car turned out. Being that the original post date was like 4 years ago. HOPEFULLY ITS DONE?!! Lol. My dash looks like @#$@ and this looks great!
