broken bleeder valve

ok well i broke the bleeder valve on my front right caliper last night when i was trying to bleed the brakes. from what i understand i cant drill it out, or get it out because of the bevel on the end. any ideas on what i could do.

maybe somehow i can get a reverse thread bolt that will fit in there, then drill a small hole and thread it in. when it his the bottom of the hole itll cause the bleeder valve screw to back out...??? i have no idea how that would work but who knows...

any ideas?

4 piston alum caliper??

Probably, since you have a turbo...

Anyway, I have no idea how you did that. I have stripped more threads on the aluminum calipers than I care to admit so how you broke a steel bleeder valve in an aluminum caliper puzzles me.

The easiest, least frustrating option would be to get a reman caliper and send that one in as a core. They are only about 38$ through www.advanceautoparts.com

It is good measure to replace both at the same time. At the price you realy cant complain too much.

Why not just get an easy out from sears or the like and take it out?

heckof a lot cheaper than buying a whole new caliper.

ok so i looked at it on sears.com

does it just drill it out? problem is if you take it all the way out...it isnt threaded all the way through. at the very end it is just a cylinder and that piece might not come out. has anyone done this before....I WANT TO SAVE MONEY

You drill the appropriate-sized hole, insert the ez out, and turn counter clockwise. The ez out has cutting edges that bite into the broken bolt, grip it, and enable you to turn it out.

It's intended for bolts with nothing left to grab on to.

And just to let you know....PartsAmerica.com is the supplier of AdvanceAuto...so pretty much anything you see on that site...you can either pickup or order through the store.

Good luck. Im not too sure why no one suggested it first..but I hope it works for you.

Just make sure you get an easy out big enough to start in the hole in the center of the bleader valve. You dont want it too small or it wont grab. And you dont want it too big because then it wont be able to get into the center hole.

Is the caliper still on the vehicle or off?

That looks like it would work well.

Not a bad price either. And when workin on old cars like ours....you will get broken bolts more often than you think...and this will come in handy in the future.

Good luck.
