Broke two bolts..[big pictures]

Here are some pictures of the two bolts I snapped....If anyone was home at the time I think I would have been thrown out of the house...I was swearing at the top my my lungs...kicked my red fender and other bs. With the $4.00 I have left to my name I guess instead of buying lunch at school I just have to go to home depot or osh to buy 2 bolts Ne ways here's the pics:


^for this bolt should I go ahead and try to drill it out? It is on the UIM...so I dunno if I should. Opinions?

^Broke this too when I was trying to loosen it to take it off it just didn't want to turn and it broke..

It's just the intercooler dude......it will be fine.

Unless you have some left handed drill bits lying around I say leave it.

It really bothers me that the bolt is still in there..would drilling be that bad?

If you really have a hard on to drill it.....

Then go find some left handed bits....that way you can maybe get them lose that way

Orrr since there is alot of metal showing try this.

Get a dremel with an extra small cut off wheel on it. Then , grind a philips head screw pattern in the bolt.

Might be ablt to get it out. Also, soak it in PB blaster.

I would wager they broke due to being cross-threaded on install. As was suggested, just forget about them. Or if you're really obsessed, drill them, use an EZ out or similar, and then retap.

Yeah I think that the one on the UIM was cross threaded...since it was fairly hard to put in. I guess I got tired of taking the damn tmic on and off and wanted to finish and look what happened

The firts bolt will be hard to drill i think.
Maybe you can try to weld something to the bolt and then try to screw it up.

The second one i think you will be able to drill, dosent look very hard.

Get a small tiny drill bit. Drill EXACTLY in the center of the bolt.....a good ways down. Now that have a pilot hole that you drilled EXACTLY in the CENTER if the bolt (no referred to as a stud) take a larger drill bit that is just smaller than the diameter of the bolt itself. Drill a larger hole EXACTLY in the CENTER of the stud (shouldn't be hard becuase you drilled a pilot hole EXACTLY in the CENTER first) Now that there is no meat left from the stud just use a punch and and hammer and needle nose pliers and pull it out. did I mention to drill EXACTLY in the CENTER??

The reason for all this is because you say it is cross threaded. IF you just broke it by tightening it too much you should be able to back it out using an EZ out or the dremmel screwdriver slot mentioned above. But by the looks of it........something is bad wrong for them to break.

I used my dad's Canon Power Shot G1. 3.3 MP I use it for everything this camera owns even though I don't know how to use it properly yet.

-will try the drill bit thing

also if I hadn't just spent ALL my money on a standalone I would use this as an excuse to get my fmic early ...but I'm poor lol

Yep^^^, also refered to as screw extractors. You can find them at the auto parts store, if they're any good. On the side of it should be the drill bit size to use (use at least a cobalt bit). Buy the biggest extractor you can find that will still fit the shank size, while leaving a bit of the bolt diameter to grab. If that bad boy was in there so tight that the head/ shank broke, you're never going to get it out with any hand tools.

Drill the hole as deep as you dare (keep the bit square, or it will break off in there), insert the ez-out, give it a couple of love taps with a hammer to seat it, then use a big crescent wrench on the ez-out while turning CCW and tapping with the hammer until it grabs and begins to turn.

If that doesn't get it out, it ain't coming out
