bridgeport and streetport are two differant port jobs. streetport is a less aggresive but lets the engine last longer while the bridgeport is more aggresive however because of the way it is ported the engine doesn't last as long. When I say aggressive I mean more hp.

okay, basically a bridgeport is when one cuts open a new opening above the corner seal track for more air to enter the chamber as well as opening the port sooner. This will dramatically increase your topend while killing your low end, depending on how far you go. There are extensions of the bridge port such as the j port and the monster port. The reason why bridges are often considered less reliable, besides normal engine wear due to more power, is that the bridge can break(if its too thin) and some bridgeports cut into the water seal/jacket further hampering reliability. a bridge port DOES NOT have to do this, but in order to make the higher hp numbers you do. You also have to watch out for falling apex seals(into the port) and I am pretty sure you would have to go with 2 piece seals at the minimum.

Bridgeporting is the equivalent of a big cam profile for a piston engine. You do lose more low end torque and is barely streetable but at over 4500rpm's....its a beast.

does few things - a) make it idle at 3kish , b) make it attract all cops and hondas with its noise, c) make it get more top end, but fail emission but you all know these.

I think a half bridge might possibly be able to be made streetable... I want to try it I think. Half bridge n/a that is.

EDIT: I'm leaving... I'll be back later.

Even if there is no emission laws, you can still get a ticket for noise. Bridgeported rotaries are deafening at WOT.

Brideports are far from deafening...
You can make them fairly quiet...

They still produce useable torque quite low down aswell...
So unless your talking about <2,500rpm operation then there are only positives, i've seen a full bridge idle at 800rpm aswell, so all this nosense about them idleing at 3krpm is just crazy.

What exactly are you worried about?

A low comp 13bt off boost at 3,000 will feel more doughy than a high comp bridgeport at the same revs....

1/2 bridge is streetable, I've a friend with one, who drives his car every day on the street. This is also on an RE. As far as the idle not all full bridges idle at 3 grand. I have seen down to 2250. 1/2 bridge can be anywhere from 12 or 13 to 16. Even streetports can push the idle up to 1 grand. A bridge port will require further mods to be able to keep up, i.e. if this is on a turbo engine you definately do not want to have the stock turbo on it, as it will restrict the power potential severly.

Will talk later, but basically if you have a resonator of some sort in each primary pipe before they collect and one, or two depending on how much room you have left, straight through good quality mufflers would quiet it down alot. (Too much for MY liking at least )

A TII bridge isn't so bad but I haven't heard it at WOT in person. I've heard an NA bridge with a custom exhaust and it was very very loud at WOT.

It's all in the exhaust, of course I too have heard some loud bridgeports in race cars here, but you can quiet them down if you throw some time and money into an exhaust system..

Yeah, I was wondering about that like running an RB presilencer and a big, big muffler to quiet it down since I want to do a bridgeport 12A SA/FB.

I already have a racing beat turbo back system, so I was thinking I would use that from the y-back and a borla xr-1 to use as a presilencer. I am probably going to need more than that though, to get it quiet enough.

how are the moroso spiral flows?
