it all depends on how long you want your engine to last, if you want it to last a good while then change the oil at 500 miles and drive it under 4k RPMs up to 2k miles then you can drive it as you normally would. the easier you take it on the engine the longer it should last.

i boost mine almost immediately but i run premix also which helps protect the internal parts better, i also do not redline the engine for at least 100 miles but i do not expect 100k+ out of my engine but i do expect it to last at least 40k miles.

in short, the better you treat your engine the better it will treat you, a minimum of 1500 miles is recommended driving under 4k RPMs for a good solid break in period.

Also, if you wanna do it right, no full throttle for the first few hundred. And to be safe keep it under 3k for the first 500.

i wonder how many people actually follow the guidelines for rebuilds though, i tried to take it easy on the motor but even on a mild accel i hit 5PSI after about 15 miles. i said screw this and went back to my old break in ways, been over 200 miles on this rebuild with zero problems full boost and full throttle been up to just over 6k RPMs once.

the rebuild rotor housings i used this time were the best pair of n/a's i could dig up out of my pile of parts, i removed the diffusers and ported the coolant passage for the turbo, no clue how many miles they have on them but there was a tiny bit of chrome flaking but barely noticable so they were probably 50-80k mile housings.
