I have a 91 n/a, how do i know If i have 1-piston or 4-piston calipers? I have five lug if that matters.

 

Take the wheel off and look down at the caliper. If your brakes are at all worn, you can see the pots.

 

i know nothing about brakes. How do i find out how many pistons it is by the pots.

If you don't know... Then why do you care? Are you changing the pads? Rebuilding the calipers? In either case, if you tell the parts man what year/model you have, in most cases he will give you the right parts.

 

BTW, a piston is a pot.

 

If they say Mazda on them, they are 4 piston.
