brake rotors and brake kits from other cars?

My 86 base has shitty *** brakes (as they all do gay small *** rotors with single piston calipers) and i dont want to swap over to five lug/four pistion calipers bc i have a set of wheels on my car already and dont want to go through the expense of buying all of the stuff for the swap and then on top of that getting new wheels. So, i was wondering if since the bolt pattern of Accords are the same (correct me if im wrong) if i could use a brake upgrade kit for an accord on my car with the big rotors and upgraded calipers. Thanks for any help in advance and any suggestions welcome.

Charles

I've been on RX-7 boards and e-mail lists for a few years now and I've never heard of anybody wanting to do this. The generally accepted solution is to swap over to five lug and get the four piston calipers.

true,.. but good wheels are expensive, i guess i coudl just sell these and get new ones.. but ill still be loosing money. I just figured that if it worked it would be a simple cheap way to get better brakes. If i just simply swaped over to 5 lug i would still want to buy a bigger rotor stronger caliper kit anyways.. so why not just keep my wheels if i can?.. thanks

Hey, if you can make it work then more power to ya. Just saying that it's gonna be completely custom and you'll probably have to write your own map.

Find a car that has a lug pattern that's the same as yours to start. You can always take measurements later and see what kind of custom bracket you'll probably have to have made in order to mount the caliper.

Don't forget to check wheel offsets and such.

you can drill out the rotors (use one hole and drill 3 others), but i don't know about the calipers, but im ASSUMING that they will fit

It will make your rotor weaker, but I've seen it done before on 240sx's
