Brake pads

Turbo and 4 piston guys. What front pads are you running, how much were they, and where did you get them. Also would like a short review. Not looking for oem cheapest they have at napa pads, I'm talking ceramic or other performance oriented pads. I'm in the market.

Anyway, I have used quite a few pads on the street, including the original pads, Axxis Metal Master (now called XBG), and a couple sets of ceramic, and I didn't really notice much difference. For street and autocross, Hawk HPS is pretty good. If you are serious about autocross then go with Hawk HP+, but keep in mind that they will eat the rotors faster, and will have more dusting and squealing.

If you need brake rotors then I recommend the plain Brembo replacement rotors (usually Tire Rack has the best deal), and for brake fluid I recommend Castrol GT LMA, or ATE Super Blue or Typ 200.

Oh gues I should mention that lol mostly street use as its my daily. But occasionally I have some fun down my backroads, and do some amateur autocross in empty parking lots (with permission). Current brake setup; steel braided lines, slotted rotors, ceramic pads. Obviously my pads are shot. I can't remember what brand they were though. I drive and break really aggressively when I'm having fun. I live in the country on backroads so that's about everyday on my way to work.

I've been trying different pads on my S5 TurboVert running 300+ whp. Common sense, you need to up the stop to compensate for the extra go.

First time around I ran the Carbonex Yellow Stuff pads. I really really REALLY liked the improved stopping, but they dusted like crazy.

I replaced them and am currently running HPS's. About the same stopping as the Carbonex, less dust, but they squeek worst than a semi truck. Really irritating.

All that said, THE most important performance mod you can do to your 7 is improve your braking.

I'd be interested in stopping alternatives as well besides these. Does anyone have experience with the GranSport GS6 Carbon Ceramic pads? http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brake...74x012-brakes&

Needs MOAR high temp grease on the back of the pads.

I run HP+ on my autocross/ rarely driven GTUs. I love them. They do dust like hell, but with enough brake grease they don't squeek.
They also lock shitty tires up VERY fast.

I run Hawk HPS as well. For street use you don't need a more aggressive pad. More race oriented pads will want to operate at a much higher temperature, so you'll probably sacrifice braking as compared to a more street pad. Not to mention the noise and dust. Personally I've not noticed a dust issue with the Hawks but I have black wheels. They squeak a little once they have warmed up, which I kind of like.
