what kind of noises? Don't tell me you are wearing them down to the metal, if you are, you'll need new rotors too.

It all depends what you want to do for the car. If the car is not goign to see any action, just a regular go grocery shopping, just get some cheapos.

Ify ou really want so grabby action for the street and strip, try some hawk pads. They are different pads, just odn't get the racing one cause they'll eat up your rotors in the street.

You need the "standard" set, NOT the "hard" or "sport" set.

There not making grinding noises or anything, they just squeak when I stop sometimes. I'm not talking about brand I'm talking about what is the info on my car when it comes to pistons and calipers and all that stuff. He asked me a question about that and I had no idea so what kind of brakes do I have?

thanks

If the mechanic doesn't know what kind of brakes you need, then you should go to a different mechanic, preferably one who is not retarded.

You can look up all your car's info on the factory service manual on this site under the Maintenance menu.

I believe if you have the GTU you have the 4 pot calipers. If they sqeak or or squeel (sp) and they are not worn to the wear indicators, they are probably an aftermarket set with more metal than the stock ones. Street driving will not get them hot enough to stop the noise. I have Hawk HP+ and Axxis metal before that and they both squeel. Go back to stock pads if you want to get rid of the noise.

Actually, that '90 GTU is a "base model", and does not use the same 4-pot brakes as the GXL and Turbo II models....
