Brake Pad Advice

fellas,

I need some advice regarding brake pads. i did some reading and have narrowed it down to the following choices; Hawks HPS, Axxis Metal Master,Stillen,Porterfield RS4 (kinda pricey though) and PBR's. if anyone can suggest any others please do so for i know im probably forgettin some.

My objective is to get oem replacement. The car is basically street driven and doesnt set ...uhhhhmm....... wheel on the track. However, if the price is right, i would definitely consider upgrading.

Any insight on this matter will be greatly appreciated. if you guys need some more info, just let me know and i'd be happy to oblige.

Thanks in Advance,
Steve W.

You can't go wrong with the Hawk HPS or HP+; especially since they cost $40-$50 at tirerack.

I am happy with the EBC greenstuff that I have on my heavy Vert. They are 2 years old(15K miles) and about 1/3 worn. IMO, I think that they are better than the Mazda OEM. I also believe that the only problem with them is that slotted/drilled rotors will chew the greenstuff up. I use standard "clean" rotors.
But, at $70, they are not $25 better than the Hawk. My sister bought Hawks for her Nissan and once I install them, I'll know how well they compare to the stock Nissan pads.
I use the Mintex pads on the back because they are dirt cheap and work. Plus, there isn't much braking back there.

I am under the impression that Stillen just rebadges "other brands" parts. So, why pay extra for the Stillen commission?

Here are others that people like: carbotech, performance friction, project mu, bonez, ......

I have Hawk HPS on the front and Remsa Silver semi-metalics on the back.I like the Hawks and they're not priced too bad from The Tire Rack.

I had Hawk HPS's on the front of my WRX, lasted a couple hard laps at best.

Can't go wrong with the Axxis Metal Masters for a street or auto-x pad. I've had a set on the 'Vert since I bought it. Plenty of pad left, great feel.
