Question Brake Discs

I recently bought an '86 N/A 7. The brakes were pretty rusted when I bought it and it stops like a bus. I have new disc and pads for it, but while attempting to remove the disc from the hub I realized its rusted together. Does anyone have an hits and tips on how to remove them other than spray with WD-40 and try again. Thanks

Come on I know someone on here has replaced orignal rotors on there 7. After 16 years those things get worn and rusted. I am tired of beating the hell out of them. They aren't pressed are they? THe manuals talk of nothing about pressing them.

did you make sure to remove those mounting screws on the hub, after that im sure you could just put a hammer to the rotor and it will break loose.

Ahh i just did it. After you remove the calipers and the rotor screw. Take a big metal bar and slam on it. After about 30 wacks, it will come off. I remember when i was done. My ear was ringing from the metal banging

Thanks for the replies. I have used almost everything to pound on the disk, including the hammer end of an axe. I will give it another go tonight. Work might help me gather the anger to remove them.

Had the same trouble with my TII ,took off the alloy
hubs and had them pressed out so nothing got damaged or bent, Its agood excuse for a good clean up
and regrease anyhow (dont like to beat the S..t out of
anything connected with stearing).
THIS could help though on my Ford same prob. I cut with
a hacksaw (watch out for brakelines and swarf) down the side of the disk VERY carefully almost to the Hub,
then with a sharp chisel cut a notch between the wheel
stud hole and the cut along the top bell part of the disk it then just cracked across and opened up and just tappedoff good luck!

you dont even need to touch the screws!!!!! just pull the disc off after you take the hub off, take out the cotter pin, and the wheel nut. It wshould slide off, if it's rusted from the spindle onto the discm your going to need some new oil seals, outter bearings and inner bearings. Cause that means there is no greese in between, so your saying that the bearing is rusted to the spindle? and other side of the bearing is stuck onto the rotor? thats hard to believe.....make sure that you have taken out all the washers and nuts and the cotter pins......hope this helps you out. If not get some **** called, oh what is it called....Fluid Film!! Spray a **** load of that onto the rusted areas, and wait it over night. (You can see it penetrating) And then try to hit it off with somehting

DC350 I think you read it wrong. The disc is rusted onto the hub. No bearings are rusted at all. I will try that fluid film stuff. Thanks
