Brake Capliper Trouble

So I was doing my 5 lug swap today and lets just say it was a large day of failure. I'll spare you the gritty details, but I was almost done when putting on the 4 piston calipers with the stock single piston 4 lug brake lines (bought ss but didnt come with all pieces) and the hole on the caliper stripped out. Just to clarify thats the hole where the brake line meets caliper stripped.

So what should I do? I was thinking tap and die set but then the hole will be too big for brake line? After I started typing this I realized I have all the ss lines I need but I need the hard lines to the 4 pot calipers. So should I tap and die the hole make it bigger and get hard lines that will fit? I'm just at a loss and really need the help. Thanks for reading guys.

My advice would be to drill and tap it bigger (be sure to use pipe threads or some other form of pressure thread, and be sure that you can get an adapter for that particular thread first), and then install some sort of adapter to make it the same size as stock again. Then you can bend the lines a little and they should still fit.

Or you could get some rebuilt calipers and just use them as a core.

I think is better to use the damage caliper as a core. The re-thread option is a good idea, but if you dont have the time or someone can't do a great job , the better idea is to buy a remanufactured one. I think this last option is better and safety. If the re-thread can be do it by a quality machine shop, I think would be no problem. But be sure what can be the cheapest way: re-thread ol by a remanufactured one?

If you drill and tap you're still going to need to rebuild the caliper to get all the chips out. Reman will definitely save alot of time.

Yeah, the problem with a reman is no stores around here have one in stock. So I ordered one and it will be here on wednesday. The problem with that is I have to work the next three days and this is my daily driver. So if the re-threaded one can last me three days, I'll definatly do it then just use it as a core come wednesday. What do you think?

I tried to use the single piston calipers but the five lug rotors are too thick. So I'm at a standstill. Thanks for the help guys.

Well, there is another side of the history. Do a good work on the re-thread, be carefull about the metal debris that can enter to the piston chamber You will need to remove it. Also after installation, check the brake fluid daily to discard any leaks. Good luck.

I'm gonna try the re-thread route. Hopefully it works for the three days I need it too. Thanks a lot for the input guys. I'll let you know how it works out.
