brake bleeding troubles...

i used a one man bleeder kit... did them according to the FSM... PR, DR, PF, DF and so on and so forth...

the rear of the car went flawless... bled the bottem bleeder, then the top... and finished the rears...

now heres when things went screwy...

when i attempted to bleed the PF... you could tell that there was movement in the line but no fluid was passing through... no what so ever... tried the DF and got the same result... the system is sealed from what i could see, no leaks under the car...

the one thing i did notice, that there was a super small amount of fluid appeared to be leaking out the back of the master cylinder... where the cylinder meets the booster...

my master cylinder is shot... isnt it?

Probably, yes.

Edit:
I see from your other thread that the car sat for a few years.
Hydraulic failure is very common in these situations...brake fluid attracts water (technically: hygroscopic) which leads to corrosion of the cylinder bore and seal failure. You may as well replace the clutch master/slave as well because the exact same thing is in play there.

thats probably what ill do... at least a new master isnt very expensive on mazdatrix...

edit: you mentioned a slave... are the slave and master one piece?

Master cylinders are a snap to replace. Did my 240's brake cylinder in a few minutes, bleeding it is the only time consuming part. It's a good thing you caught it now and now while you are driving. My clutch master cylinder went out in the 240 one morning on the way to work in traffic. Talk about scary.

The clutch slave is the part that mounts on top of the tranny bellhousing. Just follow the line out of the clutch master.

The slave is easy...two bolts hold it to the top of the bellhousing. You can access them from the top of the engine bay.
There is also- or at least, should be- a capacitor on one of the mounting bolts.
This capacitor is part of the oil pressure gauge circuit.

if the bore is not corroded, you can rebuild the clutch slave and master as well as the brake maser cylinder for a fraction of the cost.
