Bought me yet another rx7 :)

Finally I got my hands on another turbo2 ... it's been like 4 years since I've had a turbo'd rx7.... this is kinda odd though... it's an 87.. my previous t2 was a 91... anyhow.. it doesn't have leather like my 91 did... for some reason I thought all t2's had leather... not that I like leather, but... and I have a switch for sport or normal suspension... but when I checked the strut tops... it doesn't appear to have the adjusters on them... suspension also seems kinda soft compared to my 88 n/a with t2 struts. Another odd thing... my 88 n/a has a RB header.. track pipe... single 2.25" exhaust... and for some reason from a dig, it feels alot faster than my 87 t2 does.... but the top end in the t2 is deff. faster.... the throw on my t2 feels longer than on my 88 also. Dunno if these are all normal of the s4's but my s5 was way different. the t2 only has 100k miles... and supposedly all is original... I don't think so though... and I don't have power steering.... dunno if it's not hooked up... didn't check I just got it home a few minutes ago... got her for 2k... gonna go get a compression check done... guy agreed that if I wasn't happy with the comp. numbers I didn't have to buy it... I havn't "officially" payed for it yet... what do you guys think would be decent numbers for 100k miles on the motor... I'm also probably in the market for a new turbo.. since most turbo's have a life span of like 70k miles... so what do you guys think? and yes I'm still reading the what your rx7 came with thread, so back off...lol.. just kinda posted cause I'm excited! feel like a little kid again!

Not all TII's had leather or power-steering. And that's odd you have a suspension switch, I believe that was only on the GXL's... Something's a little awry.

The struts could be somewhat blown, that's a complete unknown variable. So they could've been good on your N/A (or something).

The N/A's DO get off the line quicker, but by the top of 1st gear it's obvious which one's got the turbo .

The throw might just be an 'illusion' of some sort due to bad shifter bushings.

You should be looking for compression numbers of around 100 psi all around. Also, your stock turbo should last as long as your stock motor. So unless it's smoking, you're probably OK.

If you're concerned about the turbo, remove the turbo inlet duct (TID) and feel for shaft and end play...

Sounds like a good deal, TII baby!

I dont think any t2's came with that option of sport/normal suspension buttons. It sounds like your t2 could be a clone or the guy took that part out of a gxl. T2 suspension isnt soft so you have a problem there.

alright... asked the dude... and the buttons were off a convert. he was just replacing busted peices with nicer ones... so officially the buttons do jack ****.. and I'm glad... funny thing... found out my n/a has a short throw shifter in it... thats why the t2 felt longer... car doesn't smoke at all so I'm thinking things should be good.... always starts on first crank... and no other problems so far... i'll check compression this weekend... hopefully alls good... I've heard though anything under 80 is bad... and 100 is great... so if I see 90's across the board you think the motor should be fine for a year or so?

I bought my TII with 140k miles on the clock and bone stock. The compression tested at 90/90 front and rear. It lasted for a year like this with no problems, until I overheated it on one glorious day, lol.

It was very slow... My good compression s4 N/A with intake and full exhaust would've beat it... I actually raced the same cars with both, and beat cars in my N/A, that I lost to in my TII .

just did a compression test... I got 85 on all 3 faces on both rotors.... with blow by... I'm guessing I lost about 5 to 10 psi due to the pressure gauge not getting a good seal in the spark plug hole (wasn't a screw in type) so I'd say I have 90 to 95 psi on all faces!
