bottom radiator hose question

hi there

i have a series 4 turbo engine and i am removing water cooling on the turbo

i have aquired a series 4 N/A water pump housing ( part that has the bottom radiator outlet on it )

i want to know if a n/a bottom radiator hose is the same as the turbo version

also is the n/a radiator outlet in the same place as on the turbo radiator?

cheers

Turbo and non turbo FCs use the same radiators within their respective series, so yes the bottom radiator hose is in the same location.

Reverting to a turbo cool only with oil is a step backwards no clue why you choose this route

Ah that names sense, next time say your installing. New turbo instead of just saying "removing water cooling"

i see stock turbos having the coolant blocked off all the time. my fc came like this when i 1st got it actually. iv herd it helps keep coolant temps lower? (key word, "herd") but i could only imagine it helps fry the turbo twice as quick. any reason why people do this to stock turbo units?

p.s. sorry for the thread hijack SLICKEP, just thought id ask.

because some people think they're smart. truth is many aren't as smart as they think.

if heating up the turbo was better without coolant flowing through it, why are all the newest bestest turbos on the market oil and water? think about it.

usually the amount of oil passing through the turbo is miniscule as well, technically i wouldn't even call the oil in the turbo "oil cooling", it's just keeping it alive.

you can theoretically run your car without a radiator too, but for how long? drop the water pump as well, since it's not really necessary at that point either.

thanks for the response KARACK. That "mod" iv seen on many cars, and not just rx7's, has always kept me wondering if it does more good than it does harm.

I have since then changed turbos on my car, but when i removed the stock unit, i noticed that it was starting to seap oil. Shaft play was still minimal, but it was for sure starting to leak oil. The Garrett in my car now is both oil and water cooled. Hell i think even all the cheepo ebay turbos have oil and water cooling. The stock unit now sits on my desk as a fancy paper weight. I might send it out one day to have it rebalanced and rebuilt.
