boost sensor problem? need some help here guys

my car is idling a little rough, so i tried unplugging the boost sensor from the airhose (i was expecting the boost sensor could be bad cause my boost gauge has not been working lately) and sure enough, my performance has not changed and the car's idle did not change. is there any way to test the sensor to make sure its fucked before i buy another one? also, could this be causing my car to idle rough and not let me get above 3800 rpms?(car bounces off 4k like its a rev limiter) need some help here guys

Reset your computer. Disconnect the negative, plug the boost sensor connector the way it should be, hold down your brake for 5 seconds, reconnect negative.
Let me know your results.
