boost lag on toubo n/a
boost lag on toubo n/a
Well now is the time I start having bugs to work out of my project. I know I am not running a intercooler right now but I decided to feel boost anyways it was just for a second and no boost till around 4500 rpm's then I get 6 psi around 4900 rpm so I checked for vac leaks none, checked compression good, then I was thinking about the spacer I built for the manifold and I think I screwed up there. I built the spacer with 2" pipe at the time I thought it was a good idea but now with this problem I think the holes in the manifold are a bit smaller do you think this could cause this lag? Is there anything else I should check? Thanks

a n/a high compression should boost faster than a turbo motor due to the compression, but you have to figure in the exhaust sleeves may be a restriction. but higher compression rotors will build boost faster.
and get a intercooler on that, especially with a n/a motor.....
and yeah, what turbo? stock t2 ht18?

it is a t04b with a .60 a/r and no I am dirving it down the street I live and upseting all my neigbors, it is one of those xspower turbos but I want to try everything I can before I spend 500 dollars on another turbo.

Im not sure see I got this kit from a friend of mine for 200 dollars and he said something like stage 5 exaust wheel. and it dosent say it anywhere on the turbo. It does hold boost very good and I can hear my waste gate very well. And the hotside housing is over 50% larger than the cold side.

It's probably something like a 1.15 or larger, which is why it boosts so low. There's not a whole lot you can do about it, since it's just too large to spool any sooner.

No doubt, sounds like you have a rather large turbine size..... But holy hell, dude i know you want to get it running, but you really need to run an intercooler, even if it means running the stock TMIC in the front... Be careful, rather than spending money on the turbo you might end up spending the money on a new motor... What are you tuning the car with?

I have safcII look in my sig at other mods. I was looking at some intercoolers on ebay that look nice and they are only like 200 dollars but I am going to keep looking while I am getting my car painted then I will do the fmic.

holy crap, painting is more important than reliability here????
simply can't beleive it...
but will this affect the intake air temperature to have such a large turbine size ( slow spool )or IAT will be exactly the same?

I think i found one my friend said he has one i need to go look at it to see if its any good. as for geting it painted the car is trailerd everywhere it goes now I only tried to boost it to see if the wastegate was opening and to see if my gauge was working.
