I use GReddy and love them. You can get a boost gauge for $130 from the rx7store.net. Theres also Defi, Apex'i, Blitz, and HKS making quality gauges. I do not trust autometer or other cheap ones, but others do. Anyone reading this, don't start the argument about autometer v. other brands please.

Ok, I have to know... what negative experiences have you had with Autometer gauges? Just because it's a lesser expensive product doesn't mean it's "cheap".

A lot of my friends have gone with Autometer gauges for their cars in everything from RSX's, GTi's, Neon's, and turbo Buick's. I have yet to hear of one failure.

The only thing you get with most of the more expensive brands is the name. Defi being the exception, assuming you go with the Defi-link system. But, by themselves, Defi gauges aren't special.

Autometer makes a good gauge for a good price.

Its not failure thats the problem. They are plain and simply not accurate in many cases. There have been many posts with people having autometer, swapping in a better gauge and seeing boost was off 2,3, 4 psi or more.

I do think they are good for the money. But whats the sense in having a possible off reading from an aftermarket gauge? Isn't the whole point in going aftermarket to have reliable dead-on readings?

Are we talking about mechanical, or electronic gauges?

With the autometer or GReddy(other brands), or both? I use only electronic. I have heard from personal experiences on more than a few occasions that autometers have been off and/or have not lasted very long. That is the reason for the "guess-o-meter" nickname. It wasn't randomly made up. Yes, they are perfectly fine for most setups. But that doesn't mean they are dead-on. I like precision myself. Many people say they have no problems with the higher-end autometers too. But I won't take a chance myself.

i run VDO boost gauge. It was fairly cheap, looks nice and fits in the autometer dual a pillar mount. I like it, btw its mechanical. AND if it matters to you, they are in BMW, VW and probably Porche, stock.

I've actually heard better things about VDO than autometer.
