if your talking about a cheapy from autozone or pepboys then it wont be accuarate. they tend to fail and give you bad readings, thus ruining the motor.

In my opinion, these 30 psi gauges are silly.

Very few 7's will ever see 20 psi of boost, let alone 30.

The difference is peak/hold, memory recall, warning features.

The nexus is nice. But who in the right mind is gonna pay $300 just for a boost reading? You'd have to be a retard.

I am not a fan of autometer gauges. I have had a lot inaccurate readings from them.

my autometer gauge is 2 psi off.
Those tinted gauges SUCK. you cant see them unless it's night time

Ultimately, gauges are relative. They just give you an idea of what your looking at.

the difference is the people that stand behind there name. also the color combo and functions on the gauges.

I spent close to 175 each on my 52mm greddy v2 gauge (even waited about 4-5 months to get them in). Are they any more accurate then 40 dollar gauges? Prob not, but they are definately built better, especially within the electronic sensors being used. The reason to spend more money is because you get more options ... heres what my 175 dollar gauge looks like compared to a 45 dollar one

I've got the exact same Greddy v2 boost gauge that Hurleysurf has. Got mine used on Ebay for $70 or so. It matches interior lighting perfectly.

I have Nexus gauges in my car. Boost, wideband, oil pressure, oil temp and fuel pressure. I was going to get a water temp gauge but the stock gauge works just fine and there was no sense cluttering up the A pillar.

Overall I'm very happy with the gauges. They have worked as advertised, were a joy to install and are very easily read. As weird as it sounds, the colour changing feature is very useful when you are bored in traffic, but not that big a deal after you set it to match the car initially. The full face warning light is a great feature and makes it very easy to read a gauge at a glance. Datalogging has been invaluable in tuning sine it's far easier to just hit "rewind" on the gauge and then adjust the tune instead of switching between the logging screen and tuning screen on the Microtech.

There are only a few minor gripes though. Autometer wants you to spend another $99 on the software that lets you set up custom startup/shutdown sequences and allows computer analysis of the datalogs. I find this absolutely ridiculous considering what the gauges cost...the software should be free. Also the wideband has no simulated narrow band output or 5V output, even though the website says it does.

As for customer service, if you call Autometer and mention "Nexus" they send you to a different tech support line which will treat you far differently then if you had said "Autogage". My oil temp gauge came with the wrong sender so I had to call for support. They shipped out the correct sender free of charge and I received it two days later. Top notch.

But if you intend to use these gauges, be prepared to spend $2000 at least. The Nexus gauges are a system so buying one is just a waste of time/money.

I agree

Untill Mazda decides to release a line of performance gauges to match a 20 yr old car's interior, I think the Greddy is about the best we can ask for. Lighting wise at least.

Though the Defi D gauges look like a pretty good match also, but those are out of production now.
