Bonez Race Pipe help!

Hey I recieved my Race pipe today in the mail. I brought it down to my shop to install but i came upon a problem. Apparently my exhaust is custom made and it turned out some stupid fool welded the entire exhaust together from the muffler up to the header. With the header having a bracket which is the only removable bracket, the entire system is welded together.. I solved the problem by cutting or i welding it off and making it back into a two piece but i came upon another problem.
It seems like there is some mystery pipe that is linked onto my main cat, that leads back into the engine. What does that pipe do? Would it be alright if I just chopped it off and have it bolt back on when i re-install the cats for aircare?? That mystery pipe is my problem right now.. It comes from the engine and leads down along the exaust and probes itself into the main cat.. The pipe is very small, prob the size of a penny in diameter.
That is my main problem right now..somone help me so I can hook up my race pipe!

just a wild shot in the dark but does it happen to connect to your airpump?

Ya, sounds like the the tube from your airpump that goes to your cat to provide fresh air so the cat doesn't burn up.

Ok now we know that, does it need to be removed? Um I plan on getting the Race Pipe because in Maine there are no emission laws. Anyway, does this bolt directly to the manifold and right to the Y pipe? I will definitely get the kit for 20 dollars that includes all the gaskets and bolts. Um Do I need to do anything with the 02 sensor afterwards? I havn't really got down there but doesn't it connect to a cat? Some help is needed and I was also wondering about pricing on new 02 sensors, I think it is ******* up my car by making it run rich

I still have no idea what that pipe does, someone mentioned ti was an air pump. I think it is, but i am gonna follow the tube to were it connects to the engine. You don't need to buy the Brackets and store has them for cheaper. The Bonez Race pipe bolts right now.. But my exhaust was custom welded together.. So I need to do some modifying of my own.

yeah you can take it off if you are removing the cats, if not it will probably clog them. if you if you do that and wire open your 5th and 6th you may also take off the airpump.

That pipe is the "Split Air" pipe- it comes from the Air pump via the Air Control Valve.
It provides oxygen to facilutate the chemical reaction in the catalytic converters to oxidize hydrocarbons.
It you are running a race pipe- no cat! Don't need the pipe.
There is a cone chaped diaphragm (a one way valve) just behind the engine on that pipe, it's attached with a simple hose clamp, just loosen the clamp, and pull the pipe off, leaving the front bit attached to the engine. Don't block it off.
